It does't depend on the amount of prebiotics but on the effectiveness at the target. This is why we developed MIAvian, a novel prebitoc for poultry with moderate fermentation.

MIAvian, a special oligosaccharide, is stable under acidic and base conditions (stomach, small intestine), and reaches the intestine unchanged. In the intestine MIAvian will be completely digested by large intestine bacteria under the formation of short-chain fatty acids. This leads to an increase of the large intestine flora and significant longer small intestine villi as we could demonstrate in a trial at the university of Berlin:
