In dairy cattle nutrition it is very important to protect B-Vitamins (e.g. niacin, carnitine, choline) against microbial degradation in the rumen. Higher concentrate levels fed to today's high producing cows can have an impact on ruminal destruction of supplemental B-Vitamins in addition to limiting microbial synthesis of B-Vitamins in the rumen.
The benefit of encapsulated B-Vitamins is to bypass ruminal degradation and lead to a more consistent supply of B-Vitamins being delivered to the small intestine, which helps to meet the needs of high milk production and consistency in milk components.

The B-Vitamins in MiaProtect are coated using a unique encapsulation process. MIAVIT uses a spray freezing technique, which involves very low temperatures to embed the ingredients in a vegetable polymer matrix. This results in a microgranule, which is resistant to degradation in the rumen. After passing the rumen the microgranules are subject to normal digestive processes in the abomasum and small intestine. After degradation of the fat matrix by pancreatic lipases the nutrients are released and absorbed.

MIAVIT's combination of rumen protected B-Vitamins such as niacin, carnitine, choline and an extra source of energy is useful to improve fat metabolism during early lactation.
